2018 Ajex Parade

Thousands turned out to watch the largest AJEX Parade for many years at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London.

Commemorating the centenary of the end of WW1, the annual AJEX Parade and Remembrance Ceremony at the Cenotaph attracted the largest number of Marchers for the last ten years and was equally watched by thousands of spectators again more than there have been for some years. They watched as Veterans, Children and Grandchildren, many wearing the Medals of their relatives, proudly marched down Whitehall alongside currently Serving Jewish Personnel. The very moving Remembrance Ceremony was conducted by the Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, Chaplain Rabbi Reuben Livingstone & Rabbi Harry Jacobi, concluded with the singing of Adon Alom led by Rabbi Anthony Gilbert accompanied by the Band of the Scots Guards.

At The March Past which followed, the Salute was taken by the Reviewing Officer, Lt General Richard Nugee CVO CBE who then addressed the Assembly before being given a lusty “three-cheers” led by the Parade Marshall Lt Colonel Simon Soskin.

This event also saw the last Official engagement of the AJEX Executive Director, Jacques Weisser, who retires after 24 years with AJEX.
